This past January, I took a last minute trip with some friends to Napa to kick off the year! I know we’re in April now (and January feels like forever ago)…but I wanted to share some of my favorite spots with you all! Better late than never, right? I could write forever about all my favorites, so I’ll try to do my best with a top 8 for you all! Continue reading “Napa favorites”
Wednesday Wandering: New Hampshire Getaway
Happy Hump Day Everyone!
As I wait in anticipation for the snow to arrive here again in Boston (for the next nor’easter), I wanted to share recommendations I have for a New England getaway. Living in Boston means I’m close to beaches and mountains, cities and country – all within a couple hour drive away! During these winter months, its essential to book in some weekend getaways to get a break from day-to-day craziness. Just a couple days away can help de-stress and give you time to detach from the world. I’m definitely a go-go-go type of person, so frequently, I need to plan a trip away to actually take time to rest. It may sound silly, but I cannot sit still if I’m home. There is too much around me that I *should* be doing and so I don’t stop! Last month I took two weekend getaways to New Hampshire & Maine and I wanted to share with you my recommendations for NH (more to come on Maine in a future post)!

Feisty Friday: every day is full of emotions
Has anyone seen Inside Out? If you have, its it awesome! Gotta love Pixar. For those that haven’t, you must watch it this weekend – its On Demand! On its onset, it looks like any other lovely Pixar movie: entertaining story, fun characters, appropriate for kids, but includes subtle jabs and sarcasm for adults. Inside Out is a movie that tells the story of a young girl going through some stressful and life-changing events and showcases how her personality changes through these experiences. Much deeper, it shows how our emotions evolve from the simple (joy, sadness, fear, anger, disgust) when we’re young to the more complex (happy memories that make us sad, fearful challenges that make us feel courageous and strong). Every experience shapes us. Which means, we continually evolve, our personality continues to develop, and we are continually experiencing new emotional complexities. Well, this is deep for a Friday! Besides being one of my favorite movies, it also has one of my favorite taglines: ‘Every day is full of emotions.” I love it so much….because it is legit the story of my life right now.

Decant & Dine: Terra @ Eataly
Anyone will tell you, I am obsessed with Eataly. Probably in a not-so-healthy way…all that fresh pasta and homemade cheese around every corner, for real…yum! Most weekends, especially when the weather isn’t too great here in Boston (cue spring time to arrive), Eataly comes to mind as a great weekend day activity. There is something about the chaos of it all that makes it such a calming place to go. So many people weaving up and down each aisle to check out the various olive oils, the fresh ravioli, or the Italian sweets, makes it a difficult maze to make your way through, but one that is well worth it.
Tasting & Spitting
As many of you have seen through my instagram posts, I started taking a wine class! It is a wine certification class through the Wine & Spirit Education Trust – Level 2 Award in Wine & Spirits. I am absolutely loving the class so far, and wanted to share a bit more about the class!
Celebrating success & crying with laughter
Hi all & welcome back! I’ve been legit slow with this blog, so I’m ramping back up! I’ve been spending time focusing on what I want to share on this blog and have figured out a plan to try and keep myself disciplined on sharing my story with all of you in the interweb on a regular basis! I just came back from a wonderful weekend in NH skiing with friends and I wanted to share two big lessons that really came to light over the course of the 3 days away in the snow.

Praying for Wine Country
For this Wine Wednesday, I wanted to take time to acknowledge the devastation in California from all the wildfires. My heart aches for all of those that have lost loved ones, homes, wineries, and vineyards. I still cannot believe the destruction and how quickly the fires have spread. I’m praying for all those affected and hope that these fires will stop so that no further destruction occurs. Continue reading “Praying for Wine Country”
Brachetto: bubbles of joy
I have found my new favorite bubbles! Bold statement. I know. But for real – I’m so excited to share them with you. Brachetto. Highly aromatic, red bubbles from the Piedmont region. Its fruity – mixes of strawberry and raspberry flavors – not super sweet like other dessert type wines, but such a great after dinner drink. I’ve only had it so far with desserts – it pairs nicely with pastries, sweet desserts, and even cheese. But I feel like its so versatile, that I would see myself drinking it pre-meal or maybe even with the right appetizer or starter. I love the flavor without all the sweetness.
Mushy Monday: volume 1 – the knee trials
Who hasn’t had the case of the Mondays before?? You had such a fun weekend – whether you were busy spending it with friends or running errands and catching up on much needed family time or just taking some time to recharge, it was great! And now, its Monday. Back to the grind, back to having to really wake up to your alarm clock, and back to having to manage how to balance everything in a few hours before/after work in order to make sure you have time to work out, run errands, take care of kids, take care of yourself, oh and get those recommended 8 hours of sleep! Mondays have been tough recently (along with other mornings), all rooted with my current knee situation. Continue reading “Mushy Monday: volume 1 – the knee trials”
